"Brown Bags to Mexico" is a ministry that several churches across California have participated in over the last twenty years.
Every year, around Christmas, hundreds of Ziploc bags (no longer brown paper bags) are filled with a list of items and taken to families in some of the poorest farm camps in Mexico. These items range from hot wheel cars to toothpaste to mittens to pencils. The goal is to participate in giving gifts to the less fortunate at Christmas time.
However, we at the Naz participate in a special way. We take and deliver our bags to a wonderful local pastor in San Vicente, Mexico -- Pastor Jose Luis -- along with many of his church members. He is our contact and connection with all of the people these bags are intended for. We help supply Pastor Jose Luis with the resources to be able to begin or continue his local ministry in that community even after we're gone.
Visalia Naz has participated in this ministry for sixteen years and counting. Fill a bag (or two) and join us in our call to love others the way Jesus has loved us!
Check out the packing list below, and fill a bag today. Then bring it to the church, where you can drop it off in the main office anytime Tuesday - Thursday between 8:30a and 5:00p
*Note - bag contents listed below are mostly suggestions based on average young girl/boy. Please use your best judgement when purchasing items based on gender and age.
(Example: for a newborn baby, you might purchase a pacifier rather than crayons. Newborns don't use crayons!)
